Alpaca Trekking Experience

Please note that we are now closed for visits this year and will reopen in the Spring of 2022. Our booking system will open for bookings in late February.

Why trek with an alpaca?

Alpacas are gentle natured and inquisitive creatures, with individual quirky personalities and the softest fleece that you are ever likely to touch! What could be better than spending some time with these captivating animals, and walking with them whilst enjoying the peaceful riverside setting?

Trekking with groups

Our trekking experiences start off with an informative talk all about alpacas which includes refreshments. You’ll get to feel some alpaca fleece and learn how it is made into yarn, as well as find out all about the camelid family.

We will then go meet our male alpacas and we will set off for a riverside trek and through our farm and woodland, which will take between 45 minutes to one hour (alpacas can’t be rushed!) There are plenty of opportunities for photos and you may spot some other wildlife enroute!

Relax after your trek next to the lake

Once we have completed the trek, we return to the centre for some more refreshments and our Queenholme Alpaca Quiz to see what you have learnt! We also have some alpaca related products, such as socks, yarns and novelties for you to purchase.

There’s plenty of photo opportunities!

Our treks take place on Friday and Sunday mornings, and can be booked between April and October. The treks are suitable for children aged 8 years and over (sharing with an adult) and sensible children of 12 year olds and over can generally walk their own alpaca.

Walking through our woodland

You can either choose to walk your own alpaca on a trek or share an alpaca between two people. The choice is yours!

There’s always time for that alpaca selfie!
